For a long time barkeeps have been summoning tales of a barley-wine that has been gathering strenght in a cognac barrel. A mixture of pine-sprouts and an oak barrel create a complex woody aroma, whist a malty, high-alcohol backbone is underlined by fragrant coqnac notes. A beer which demands savouring!
Today this legend finally becomes reality and is available at the brewpub and the beer branches.
Barley wine has been a part of civilization since the antique greece. Strong beers that often had been infused with inspirational herbs and berries. High alcohol content is acheived through a larger amount of malt and a longer fermentation period. Highly sugared wort can ferment and age from months to years, awaiting a special occassion or a mood.
The serious amount of alcohol alows the beer to blosom in an intense flacour, which turns a beer session into a flavorful experience to savour. Opening of a bottle asks for a cigar and a comfortable chair to indulge in a unrushed evening. Beutiful for deserts, conversations about finer aspects of life and pondering of deeper questions.
